Honor Banquet -1970
This ceremony was given each year in honor of students who made honor roll for the first semester each school year. The program consisted of a guest speaker, and culminated with a dinner for the honor students and their guest.
Dr. Walter Washington, President of Alcorn A&M was Guest speaker in 1970. This Picture was taken just after he became president at Alcorn.
Dr. Washington retired from Alcorn State University in 1994 after 25 years of service. Prior to being appointed president of Alcorn in 1969, he was President of what was then Utica Junior College for twelve years. The combined 37 years of continuous service made him the longest serving college president in Mississippi and around the nation.
