Class Motto:"Finished not for Honor, but for Service."

The Alexander High School Class of 1944 was a class out of the ordinary. This class produced a class that had only one male student. W. M. Cain holds the distinction as being the only male student to be photographed in the graduating photo of the class of 1944. Theory has it that most males students at that time were home trying to help take care of the family by working in the fields. Other notions has it that most males students of this class were being involved in World War II. If the latter is the case, most of these male students would return to graduate in classes beyond their originally scheduled graduation date.
Being that the traditional roles of President and Vice President was held by male students, it is speculation to say that the Class of 1944 opted not to have a Vice President because the only male student was declared President.
